Today was AWESOME!!! We had an outreach outside the Dream Center where we gave out free sno cones to the neighborhood kids, people driving dump trucks, and just about anybody else. We had a great time visiting with the little kids and shooting hoops as well!

Another group of our students were in the cafe' portion of the Dream Center where they gave out free coffee, cupcakes, and clothes. It was a great day!

Tonight we are getting geared up for an all out worship service here at the Dream Center. Please pray that God would have His way in all of our lives!

3rd Midnight Blog

Well, today was by far the most active we've been all week. We were involved in all kinds of outreaches and service projects. We started the morning off early with breakfast at 6 AM. We took the 44 J Highers to the Roselawn Dream Center to do a homeless breakfast. Afterwards we broke into lawn outreaches, street ministry, etc. The HPC staff said our car wash outreach was the best EVER! That's a huge compliment because they've done tons!

I had a lady who was head over the "Pamper Night" come to me tonight and tell me how blown away their staff was with how awesome our girls worked! They even intended on writing a letter to show their appreciation towards them!

Guys, we have a very special group of young people and youth workers! WE are blessed!

Your kids are in bed safe and sound!

It is an honor to lead them.

Another Midnight Post

Okay, it is exactly 12:00 A.M. Thursday morning. These midnight post's are becoming a bit of a habit this week. My only "down time" has been early mornings with Jesus and late nights. All of your students are in bed safe and sound.

Today we traveled to the "Big Easy" for some fun time. We all had a very good time going to different shops and eatin lunch. Some students bought them some crazy hats and other stuff. Tonight we went to the "Epic Service" which is the student ministry of Healing Place Church. I will say it was AWESOME! As soon as the countdown clock hit 1:00 minute all of the students (which were about 250) hit the front of the stage for some absolutely dynamic worship! It was intense, it was loud, and most importantly the presence of God was there in a powerful way! Students clapped, sang, cried, and some jumped and danced. Our students joined right in!Several testimonies were given by some of their students that just got back from a trip to Africa.

Now it's time for some shut eye. We have an early start in the morning. We eat breakfast at 6 AM and then it's off to serve!

Midnight Post

Well, it's 12:35 AM Wednesday morning and my brain is racing. Don't worry, all of your kids are safely in bed asleep. I know you've heard me talk about how hard our students have been working but I really would like to focus on a different group of people early this morning-our youth workers. The more I'm around different churches and different groups the more I realize just how good we have it. You just won't find any youth workers out there that will be as dedicated, hard working, and commited as our group of youth workers. HPC's outreach staff have gone on and on about our workers. So early this morning I just want to take the time to say how proud I am of them. They really mean a lot to me and your kids couldn't be in better hands.

Servolution Update-Day 2!

We had several different outreaches and service projects today. We had a group of 25 of students and leaders stay at the Dream Center for a summer day camp. Some students visited with ages 5-11 yrs (field trip to a local park). The other students stayed on the property and visited with other young people ages 12 and up. They ate together, painted rooms, etc.

The other 60 students and workers took it to Donaldsonville (D'Ville they call it). The Donaldsonville Dream Center has come a long way! There is a lot of history in Donaldsonville that goes back to the 1800's. When the Dream Center Pastor was shown the building years ago that they had the opportunity to buy they were literally wading through trash and rats in the old warehouse. The investers believed in the pastor's vision and they got it! We did a food drive this morning and worked on a damaged school (from Ike).

Our students have been working very hard (and fast)! You would be proud!

Tonight we are going to a nice area in Baton Rouge for some fun time! We will come back to have a short "de-brief" service and breakout groups.

Servolution Update!

Hello Parents!

We have made it safely to the Healing Place Church Baton Rouge Dream Center and are headed into day 2!

Yesterday consisted of four different outreaches! Our boys divided into three different groups to go and serve. Homeless Supper, door to door praying for folks, and packing food in a warehouse to distribute after a service later in the week. The girls went to HPC's main campus for an all out "Pamper Night". They participated in pampering over 1,000 women from all walks of life. Let me tell you your students did AWESOME!!! We got great feedback from all the HPC volunteers about how great YOUR students served!

Today we hit Donaldsonville for a few different outreaches to the poor. Pray for us.

Great Family Night!

The last Sunday of each month is Family Night. We are encouraged to invest in the most important small group we will ever be apart of-our family. My passion for family and parenting continues to grow each and everyday. What an exciting journey we are own in striving to build a family that functions the way God desires it to function. It certainly isn't always easy but I am thankful for the power of the Holy Spirit, God's word, and the great examples that God has placed in our lives to teach us.

Now I am certainly much more passionate about deer hunting than fishing but yesterday afternoon I took my oldest daughter Gracen bream fishing. In a matter of time we had a stringer full of fish (fun to catch but no fun to clean). We had a blast together! I bought Gracen a really cool pink princess fishing rod! The goal wasn't the catching of fish itself but quality time with my daughter. We had a great time but the conclusion could very well be: My daughter may be a bit on the girly side! Flopping fish tended to freak her out! Maybe Addelyn will be my fishing buddy???

After our fishing trip we went to "pop's house" and had supper with some family. Nothing like some good ole garden food! Squash, Black Eyed-Peas, Turnip Greens, Onions, etc! Hit the spot! We than topped it off with vanilla icecream and mulberry cobbler! yes, i said it-mulberry cobbler from our mulberry tree in the yard. I know, somebody say "kuntry".

What a great family night!

“Once again a message came to me from this Lord: “Son of man, give your people this message: ‘When I bring an army against a country, the people of that land choose one of their own to be a watchman. When the watchman sees the enemy coming, he sounds the alarm to warn the people. Then if those who hear the alarm refuse to take action, it is their own fault if they die. They heard the alarm but ignored it, so the responsibility is theirs. If they had listened to the warning, they could have saved their lives. But if the watchman sees the enemy coming and doesn’t sound the alarm to warn the people, he is responsible for their captivity. They will die in their sins, but I will hold the watchman responsible for their deaths.” (Ezekiel 33:1-6)

For the first 18 years of my life there was something very important missing-spiritual truth. That lack of spiritual truth or revelation of it was like a rope holding me over the fires of hell. Nobody had the guts to share with me the whole counsel of God’s truth and the church my family was attending preached a message that left me secure in my sins. Truth is important because it is the only thing that can set us free. When I did come to a knowledge of God’s truth and was set free from my sins I vowed to God that I would do my best to always share the whole truth of His Word. Sometimes people run from the truth and sometimes they ignore it. The Bible says Jesus was full of “grace and truth”. We can’t give people grace alone because the gospel becomes watered down and we can’t give them truth alone because we can kill them with it or become legalistic. There must be grace and truth.

What kind of father would I be if I saw danger or evil coming to my daughters and yet didn’t warn them? What good would I be if I saw a rapist or murderer coming for my wife and didn’t fight him off? What good would I be if I saw a wolf coming for the sheep (students) in our fold (at Family Church) and yet didn’t warn them? What about the sheep entrusted in your fold? Satan, our enemy, has unleashed a hoard of demons against family and our young people and there is an attack. The alarm has been sounded but will people listen? The alarm has been set off but will the young people arise? The trumpet has been blown so will we as parents rise up and fight the enemy of our kids souls?

Whose blood will be on our hands? If we don’t blow the alarm, sadly it falls on ours. If we blow the alarm, share the truth, and give the warning, it could very well save their lives.

I woke up this morning at 4 A.M. a little anxious and ready to get the day going. I spent time with Jesus and allowed the Holy Spirit to speak to me the message to give our teenagers tonight. Man, life is so different with Jesus! I remember the day it was hard to get out of the bed at 7:30 let alone earlier. When Christ is leading the way the lense in which you view life from is so very different. Today, I am a husband, father, and a minister. I am truly blessed to be able to go out tonight and share Christ to those who need Him.

Thank you Jesus for new life!

The student ministry would just like to say "Thanks" to all the mothers out there! Thank you for who you are and what you mean to family!!!

“I remember your genuine faith, for you share the faith that first filled your grandmother Lois and your mother, Eunice. And I know that same faith continues strong in you.” (II. Timothy 1:5)

“One day some parents brought their children to Jesus so he could lay his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciplies scolded the parents for bothering him. But Jesus said, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children.” And he placed his hands on their heads and blessed them before he left.” (Matthew 19:13-15)

I think the first verse of the passage above is so very powerful. “One day some parents brought their children to Jesus...” The first perception or impression children first have of God is from their parents. I guess that could either have a positive or negative effect upon the children based upon the parents lives and teaching. Would the children ever have come to Jesus if the parents wouldn’t have brought them to see Him? I know it’s the Lords desire for the “parents” to do it together but so many times it’s been the faithful moms. The “Lois and Eunices of the faith”. Mothers, thank you for bringing your children to Jesus! Everytime you lived out the life in front of your kids you were helping them see Christ. Every prayer you have lifted up on their behalf, every time you faithfully brought them to church, and every time you would teach them Bible stories coming up you were pointing them to Jesus. You single moms, thank yo for not giving up. Thank you, even after life dealt you a hard blow that you continued to walk faithfully before our Lord.
When the parents attempted to bring their children to Christ the disciples scolded them for bothering Christ but that didn’t stop them from getting to Him. Thank you mothers for not giving up when the world shouted at you to “give up. Let up, or cast discouragement on you for continuing to get your kids to Jesus. When the world would fight for your time, attention, and concerns you continued to press on for your family.
There are so many wonderful things mothers you have done for church, family, and your children! Thank you!

A lesson from my fig tree!

Yes, since I have the privilege of living off the map in Luna, Louisiana I have all kinds of blessings I enjoy that ordinary "city folk" wouldn't have. Fig trees, gardens, mulberry trees, cats, dogs, deer, and about everything else you can think of. The fig tree right outside our kitchen window has been there for like 100 years and its gotten crazy out of hand! I took the time to do some "pruning" over the weekend and left the tree almost naked! Piles and piles of fig branches lay all over our yard! I ran to do an errand and about an hour later when I returned I noticed the fig limbs were noticeably drying and withering. You could tell that life had left them. Why? They had been cut off from there source. That fig tree reminded me that Jesus IS and always WILL BE our source of life and cut off and/or apart from Him we would wither away!

So many times we try to be and do things on our own. We attempt to do things in the flesh without the Spirit of God leading us. When we go through our day not in prayer mindedness, without saturating ourselves in His presence, and without feasting on His word we have no life, dry up, and will wither away! May we always remember our source of life-Jesus Christ!

"Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing." (John 15:5)

What's up all?!

I pray everyone had a wonderful small group weekend! My boys and I did some "life together" at Excalibur Fun Sunday afternoon. Okay, I'm a bit too out of shape now to be climbing rocks so I will leave that up to the pros. Now, I take on much more "manlier" tasks like go-cart racing and video games. Small groups are a great way to connect with each other and be apart of the "bigger picture" of what God is doing.

This week in E3 we will have a 1 night message entitled, "I know what you did last summer". You'll have to come check it out to see what it means! Our doors are always open to parents who just want to drop in and check it out!

Orange Conference 2008

Brenda Worley, Flo Worster, Kathy Bower, Jodi Payne, and myself will be coming home tomorrow following the three day Orange Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. I have to admit I was a bit hesitant in traveling over 7 hours with 5 women in one vehicle but I have to admit I had a blast!

The Orange Conference is all about taking red (church) and yellow (family) = Orange.

For so long I've heard, "Help, fix my teenager" but this is all about equipping the parents or families to do the work of the ministry. As parents we must realize that WE have the responsibility of our children's spiritual condition not the youth pastor or children's minister. Parents, as a youth pastor I can be replaced and so can the children's minister, etc. There are others out there that could take my spot and actually do better but me as a father-I could never be replaced! My daughter only has one day here on earth-me! That makes me unique! Parents, you are unique! There is not another you! God has not called anyone else to be a parent do your child-he has called you! Your kids need you! Your teen needs you!

What a refreshing week we've had but we must travel back to West Monroe tomorrow! I can't wait!

Family Night Weekend

"And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates." (Deut. 6:5-9)

As parents we have the responsibility of teaching and training our children to know, love, and serve God. For so long families have often times seem to have put the responsibility of their kids spiritual well-being when in fact it is theirs. The churches responsibility is to equip the parents (or partner) with the parents in assisting them in their childrens spiritual well-being.

Ephesians 4:11-12 says, "Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God's people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ."

Simply put, when the church equips the saints (or families) to do the work of the ministry it will help build up the church. Strong families build strong churches.

Giving and Blessing

I believe Christians should be known as the "biggest givers" on earth. You don't have to be "rich" or "wealthy" to be a giving person. Certainly we can bless people with things money can buy but some of the biggest blessings are the things we bless others with that money can't buy. What about the person you see that needs a word of encouragement during the day, an encouraging, call, letter, or email? What about helping someone with a weekend project or offering to babysit their kids? "For God so loved the world He gave..." Jesus gave His very best for us so we as Christians have no excuse not to give and to be a blessing to others around us.

We live in a world that is only interested in "me and mine" and looking after "number 1". The Bible talks about in the last days people being "lovers of themselves." The Bible says in Ephesians 5:5 that“You can be sure that no immoral, impure, or greedy person will inherit the Kingdom of Christ and of God.”

Proverbs 1:19 says,“Such is the fate of all who are greedy for money; it robs them of life.”

In Colossians we read “So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual immorality,impurity, lust, and evil desires. Don’t be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world. Because of these sins, the anger of God is coming.”

So how do we fight greed, selfishness, and our own self-interests? How do we guard our heart from the love of money? With being content with what we have and with giving.

Heb 13:5 (RSV) "Keep your life free from the love of money, and be content with what you have."

The Bible says in II. Cor. 9:7, “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.”

“Some people are always greedy for more, but the godly love to give!” (Proverbs 21:26)

The Bible also says in Acts that it is "Better to give than to receive." (Acts 20:35)

We experience no greater joy than when we go out and bless somebody and when we do it-secretly."

I've challenged our students to do just that this week!

What a great time of worship we had last night in the student ministry here at Family Church. The E3 room was packed with students and youth workers worshiping our God! The Carey Amos Band did a fantastic job ushering in the presence of God! Thanks to Cross Roads for hanging with us last night! You guys are awesome!

Open Mic Night at E3

I listened to all these testimonies and realized that Satan tries his hardest to ruin our lives and bring us down. Jason Hinton and I prayed over all the studentss. Things that happened tonight were indescribable. Walls were broken, relationships were built, and most of all God moved tonight through everyones heart. It amazed me to see two little Jr. High students to get in front of their peers and pour their hearts out. Then near the end of service a visitor at our youth service got up in front of a bunch of strangers and told about what God has done in his life. I heard Abbey come and talk about her regrets. That she has not had the courage to come on stage and tell what God has done in her life, but she finally had the courage her last 2 months of her last year in E3. She also talked about leaders rising up in E3. I would love to see students who have been called to be leaders by God to rise up. This E3 service has been the most awesome service. I also asked a couple of fellow students how they liked the service, and they said it was indescribable how God moved tonight.

David John Phillips at E3 this week!

David John Phillips and Crossroads will be at E3 this Wednesday night for "Split Night". David John heads up the College ministry here at Family Church and we would like to start having some interaction with these guys seeing that our Seniors will shortly be transitioning into college in only a few months.

David John and his worship band will lead worship then he will speak to the high school students as I speak to our junior high students during our "split" time.

Come on out and invite a friend! We will be continuing with "Reflections-Image is Everything."

Mic Night a Big Hit!

Wow, if only you could have sat in the E3 Room this past Wednesday Night to hear heart touching testimonies given by our students and youth workers alike! We had a great icebreaker game entitled, "Take a Bite or Take a Seat" which consited of pigs feet, turnip roots, onions, etc in which the winners won an MP3 Player and an I-Tunes Gift Card. Then, we have some engaging worship led by our off the chain worship team, followed by touching testimonies the remainder of the night.

Right as we were wrapping up, a young man dressed in complete black walked on stage and told of how he did not want to be there tonight and how angry he was at God. By the end of the service God had touched his heart and he was testifying in front of the whole youth. Praise God!

Our youth workers have a leadership team meeting this Sunday were we will eat, fellowship, talk summer retreat, and be equipped with a message from Pastor TLT. Please keep us in your prayers!

Open Mic Night this Wednesday in E3!

So how often do we give our students the opportunity to speak out about what God has done? Their struggles? Their victories? Their testimony? Something God has laid upon their heart? Well, this Wednesday night in E3 they will have the opportunity to do just that. This Wednesday is "Open Mic Night". Doors will open early for students to hang out and then we will get started with a fun icebreaker followed by worship. It will be a service designed to allow the students to share the joy of their salvation-Jesus Christ! Starts at 7PM C-ya there!

"And they have defeated him by the blood of the Lamb and by their testimony."

Small Groups

What a pretty weekend it turned out for small groups! My 6th grade group of boys met for some pizza and fun at Kiroli Park on Sunday afternoon. After tearing into some pizza we hit the field for some fun! After games of soccer, football, and "kill the man with the ball" they were all poopepd! (including me). Small groups are a great way for students and youth workers to connect and build great relationships!

Drink Up!

Exodus 17:1-7

“Strike the rock, and water will come gushing out. Then the people will be able to drink. So Moses struck the rock as he was told, and water gushed out as the elders looked on.” (Exodus 17:6b)

“All of them at the same spiritual food, and all of them drank the same spiritual water. For they drank from the spiritual rock that traveled with them, and that rock was Christ.” (I. Cor. 10:3-4)

Summer is quickly approaching us and many people will hit the rivers, ponds, and pools to be refreshed from the heat. Water brings refreshment to our bodies and it gives us life! Without it we would die!

Can I ask you when is the last time you drank from the river of life? How often to you “strike the rock” which is Christ and drink from His Spirit? Without His Spirit we will die? Many people are dry and thirsty and are in need of refreshing times. God is saying take the time and drink from the river! Drink from the fountain! Drink from His Spirit and you will never die! His fountain, His river, and His Spirit will never ever run dry!

Reflection-Image is Everything

We will begin a new series this Wednesday night entitled, "Reflection-Image is Everything." It will be a teaching on Being made in the image of God and imitating Christ. Doors at the RD Center will be opened early so students can come shoot hoops and hang out before service which will begin at 6:55. Come for a time of dynamic worship led by our Revolution Band, prayer, life-changing teaching, and life with other students. See you Wednesday!

Mystery Night turns into Nursing Home Outreach

We loaded up a bus full of Junior High Students and set off for our "Mystery Night" in which they had no idea where we were taking them. We ended up at a local Nursing Home to allow our students to be the hands and feet of Jesus. We had our students get into groups with their small group leaders and go door to door. I was so proud of the way our young people conducted themselves. Some prayed, some handed out things, and some even strolled a lady down the hall in her wheel chair. Wrapping up we all sang "Amazing Grace" for a small group of ladies that blessed thier souls.

Everytime we serve we have the opportunity to look like Christ. I saw alot of Jesus in a group of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders last night.

Our Senior High had an all out "Game Night" at the RD Center last night. Game Night was another big success and congratulations to Logan Baugh and the "Orange Team" in thier victory. Some may think "Game Nights" aren't very spiritual but I assure you they are. This is very much part of the Kingdom of God. Building community and relationships are everything!

I was proud of our team of youth worker volunteers who always go above and beyond!

High School students will meet in the E3 Room at the RD Center for some short instructions then have an all out Game Night this Wednesday March 19th. This is a great time to build relationships with other students and youth workers. It's sure to be a blast!

All Junior High Students will need to sign in the info booth as they come in the RD Center. We will be leaving the property right at 7 PM to go away for a "Mystery Night". Junior High Students won't know where we are taking them but we will have them back at 8:15 PM.

We just wrapped up a two week series entitled, "The Unseen World" and we've been talking alot about fighting the fight of faith. We spoke to our students last night concerning the full armor of God and how we are engaged in a daily spiritual battle. As I was praying in the E3 Room this morning I looked out and saw all the empty chairs left over from last night. Last night there were students in those chairs. Last night they were worshiping God, there was loud music, and young people that filled the room. This morning in the room it was much different. I was the only one in there-the room was quite and the chairs were empty. The truth is, those students went out into the battlefield. Some of their battlefields are at home. Some of their battlefields are in school, and some of their battlefields are very private. I couldn't help but ask myself, "I wonder if they really got it last night?" "I wonder if they took to heart what we talked to them about?" "I wonder that if today they applied to thier lives what we talked about last night?" "Did they put on their armor today and fight the fight of faith? I wonder?

"But don't just listen to God's word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves." (James 1:22)

Tonight is Split Night!

Tonight is "Split Night" in E3. We will continue on our current series, "The Unseen World."
We will ALL (Junior and Senior High) meet in the E3 Room to worship first at 6:55 PM. Beck will be speaking to the Junior Higher's first as the High Schooler's go to breakout groups. Then Georgiana Tarantino will speak to the High Schooler's as the Junior Higher's go to their breakout groups.
